Bratislava, Slovakia October 21,, 2010

Evidence of the Communist occupation still exists in this lovely city.  The Communists built 20-story cement-gray apartment buildings without elevators or indoor plumbing!  Now the buildings are painted beautiful colors and I would imagine they have indoor plumbing!

Slovakia was forced to be a part of Czechoslovakia until 1993.  They are celebrating their independence and rediscovering their roots.

Bratislava has many statues, many of them whimsical.  When I came around a corner and one of them said, "boo", he took 10 years off my life.  He was a living statue!
